Cannabis oil
Cannabis oil is an oil that is extracted from cannabis plants. Despite cannabis oil being derived from the plants when unprocessed, the composition of these compounds relies on the specific plants the oils are extracted from. Our product here at the HE clinic extracts the oils naturally from herbal cannabis plants, constituting cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).
Interestingly, our THC and CBD mixture complements each other’s benefits to produce what’s called an ‘entourage effect’. This is when both these two compounds work more effectively together to generate a greater effect rather than being utilised on their own. Having said this, our 2:1 ratio of CBD to THC will in fact enhance the effects associated with CBD!
Anxiety, Depression and PTSD
The relaxation and calmness that our patients feel are oftentimes the most popular reasons for using our Cannabis oils.
CBD interacts with CB1 and CB2 receptors that are found in the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system which have the capability to regulate serotonin levels. Serotonin has a vital role in your mental health and allows you to be happy!
Low levels of serotonin which are closely related to those experiencing depression and anxiety, can therefore be counteracted by using our Cannabis oils here at the HE Clinic.
However, unlike CBD, which has appeared to reduce anxiety levels at all doses that have been tested, THC can increase anxiety at high doses. It is recommended that a low and thus beneficial dose of THC is 7.5mg. Our medically licenced oils, therefore, have the optimal amount of THC which contains 4.7mg per drop.
Post-traumatic stress disorder consists of nightmares and fears, anxiety and tension, sleeping disorders, rage and other symptoms. Cannabidiol mixtures assist with the regulation of traumatic memory outbursts, which therefore reduces anxiety and depression. However, cannabis oils are not just subject to these benefits but also tension relief, insomnia and nightmares. NYU published research from 2018 which proves a connection between CB1 receptors in the central nervous system and the improvement of PTSD.
Sleep and Epilepsy
The hypothalamus in the brain plays an important role in our quality of sleep which involves regulating body temperatures as well as sleep patterns.
The circadian rhythm is when the body’s internal clock instructs when you sleep and wake up. Travel, work, changes in sleeping habits or age can all have an influence on progressing circadian rhythm disorders.
CBD permits your body to progress through the normal stages of sleep, as well as REM sleep without disruptions. This ensures high quality and an increased duration of sleep. CBD interactions with the endocannabinoid receptors can activate a cascade effect for a more natural timing of sleep which is synchronised to the day/night cycle known as diurnal sleep.
Chronic Pain
The analgesic effects that CBD possesses allow for pain relief when encountering injuries or disabilities. Numerous patients have experienced a drastic reduction in inflammation-related swelling and reduced pain after using our product.
Unlike other analgesic medicines which are associated with addiction or toxic effects, being able to control pain is important for the relaxation of the mind and body.
